A British court has ordered the Kashmiri -Suutuber Abrar Qureshi to pay two political leaders in a defamation case of over 2 million 60,000 pounds.
Abrar Qureshi made serious allegations in his YouTube program ‘Gorakh Dhanda’.
The case was filed by Pakistan People’s Party leader Chaudhary Muhammad Yasin and his son Chaudhary Ammar Yasin in a London court. He said that the allegations made in the video have severely damaged his reputation.
The court ruled that Abrar Qureshi did not confirm the allegations before aired, nor did he take the claimants, who are against the responsibility of journalism. The court has ordered Utiawar to pay a loss of 1,30,000 pounds to each claimant, 21,829 pounds interest and legal expenses of 65,000 pounds.
The judge also said that the video of the video faced campaigning in Pakistan and the UK, and the video of the video gave the audience an impression that the allegations were correct.
The court has ordered Abrar Qureshi to reproduce such allegations and publish a summary of the verdict on all its social media platforms within 7 days.
Chaudhary Muhammad Yasin has called the court’s decision “victory for truth and accountability”.
