On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the power dropped by the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Election Commission not only marked the question of electoral integrity, but also shaken the foundation of democracy. His allegations have highlighted the hollow foundation of a system that claims to represent the public will.
Whether it is a case of more than 4 million suspected voters in Maharashtra elections or more than one million fake voters in Mahadevpura constituency in Karnataka, the figures presented by Rahul Gandhi are a cause of concern for any conscious citizen. He claims that out of 6.5 lakh votes in Mahadevpura assembly constituency, 1,00,250 votes were stolen, including 11,965 diploma Kate voters, 40,009 fake address voters, 10,452 ‘wholesale voters (several voters at single address), 4,132 voters and 369 voters. Yes. These are facts that have been obtained from the Election Commission’s own data, even though the Commission refused to provide an electronic voter list to the Congress team for six months.
The attitude of the Election Commission is even more embarrassing. According to Rahul Gandhi, the Commission deliberately provided the Karnan Machine -Direable Document to make data analysis impossible. He says that if the Election Commission had given data in electronic form, it would take us 30 seconds to find fake voters, but through paper documents, the process was prepared for six months. This is a clear indication that the Commission is avoiding transparency.
In the 2024 elections, exit elections and contradictions of results should also be seriously considered. In Maharashtra and Haryana, where many exit elections were showing the victory of Congress or Maha Vikas Aghhari, the result was not only different, but was so different that suspicion was not reinforced without doubt. Is it just a coincidence that every time the results go in favor of the person who is the ruling party? Is it possible that every time the exit pool is wrong, or is there anything else that is being hidden?
The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka is a ridiculous turn to take an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi on his allegations. On this, Rahul Gandhi has clearly stated that I am a politician, my word is my oath. This data is yours, we have presented it only to the public. If we are wrong, tell me where are wrong? Surprisingly, the Election Commission has not yet denied data.
Another dangerous aspect of all this case is the anti -government wave. Rahul Gandhi raised a fundamental question that all democratic systems of the world have anti -government trends, but how is the BJP preserved every time with this wave? Is this only the perfection of their performance or do the system cracks save them? If the voter list is a fake name, if a person can vote several times, if the original voters are removed from the list, the victory of the BJP or any party does not mean the victory of democracy, but it will be defeated.
Currently the country stands at a significant turn. On the one hand, there is an Election Commission, which is a constitutional body and should perform its duties in full neutrality, on the other hand, the opposition, which is essential for democratic balance, but it is subject to the conspiracy every time and the third is those who are incredible and are disappointed to find the truth between the two.
If Rahul Gandhi’s allegations are correct, then it is not only theft of votes, but a murder of democracy. And if these allegations are false, the Election Commission should keep the facts in a transparent manner, to the public, release data and Rahul Gandhi reacted to every point. Silence is no longer an answer, but it is a crime. It is time for the Election Commission to take himself to the court’s trust and prove that it is loyal to the Constitution, not the BJP or any other congregation. Otherwise, in the upcoming elections, a question will be placed with each vote, was my vote really counted or stolen in the middle?
