A virginie city councilor was burnt down during an apparent personal attack on Wednesday, the authorities announced.
The suspect, Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, would have confronted Danville municipal councilor, Lee Vogler, 38, at his office, in the Showcase magazine, and covered him with an inflammable liquid, said the Danville police department. The two went out where Hayes would have set fire to Vogle, the police said.

Vogler was taken to hospital in an unknown state, police said. Showcase magazine said he had suffered “serious burning injuries.”
Hayes, 29, from Danville, is in detention, police said. The suspect would have fled the premises and were then arrested by police officers with a few houses, the police said.

It seems that Vogle and Hayes know each other “and the attack follows from a personal affair which is not linked to the position of the victim to the municipal council of Danville or to any other political affiliation,” said the police.
Vogler, who was elected to the municipal council in 2012 at the age of 24, also works as sales director of Showcase magazine, where he was attacked.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by this act of violence,” said Showcase magazine in a press release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Lee and his family because he receives medical care. The team of the Showcase magazine cooperates fully with the police while they are continuing their investigation.”
