hello! I am Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter and let’s talk about a simple salary dialogue strategy today. This should be clear for you but it is not for many people. So, let’s work.
Now, you are in the middle of the conversation. Perhaps HR has extended the proposal. Perhaps the hiring manager has.
Let’s work here with the perception of HR. Therefore, HR is often quite rigid and rules. For example, I say a customer, we have the right to increase salary up to a certain percentage, as long as within the level of the same job as that person.
Using it as an example, suppose you are an accountant. You are going to remain an accountant. You are not going to be a controller.
You are going to do the same type of accounting work for their organization as you did for yourself. What they will do will increase your salary with a certain percentage. Now, suppose the salary for you is very low.
What do you do now? HR does not necessarily have to do clout to increase the money immediately. Your strategy is to get a colleague in it who is usually a hiring manager and is telling them, see, I really want to join. Great opportunity.
I like to work with you, but your HR organization increased a proposal for me which is a little less. What will be more acceptable? He or he will answer. You will give them a number a little more.
They will say, let me see what I can do. Often, this is in the interest of the manager who is at work to complete the proposal because being practical about it, if they have to go back to the well and interview from the beginning to find another first choice, they are wasting a lot of time, thus money, so that you should say, I want to say. So, here you are looking for a colleague from the hiring manager and they can say, look, my hands are tied.
I can’t do at which point you have an option, but you have learned something about this person’s quantity that this person has within the firm that they do not have the opportunity to increase a few thousand dollars offer. HR is controlling the budget that they cannot find you on the board. Then, I am not going to tell you what to do here but you have learned something about their firm and when you consider the proposal you want to keep it in mind.
Now, let’s do it in another way. Hiring manager is less. Let us now look at HR as an associate and say that I really want to join.
