Trump meets Keir Starmer after the announcement of the EU trade

The Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the United States representative, Jamieson Greer, will now hold Chinese officials in Stockholm, Sweden.

The two parties have about two weeks up to a deadline of August 12, when higher rate rates are triggered.

In an MSNBC interview before the meeting, Greer said that he could not yet say if there could be room to extend the deadline, but noted that “the conversations are constructive, and they go in the right direction”.

Greer said the United States is entering meetings “with a strong hand” after having concluded trade agreements with the European Union and Japan.

“We have had a lot of tensions over the years, we have had tensions now, but the fact that we meet them regularly to solve these problems, I think that gives us a good basis for these negotiations,” said Greer about the cycles of talks with China.

In May, countries concluded an agreement to take a high price break for 90 days after the two parties met in Geneva.
