“I reminded everyone that I will no longer wait for late tourists in the morning, and wake up at the time of their responsibility,” wrote the op.
Later in the evening, the woman approached the PO and asked if she could “make sure to wake her up on time”.
“I reminded him a third time that I am not responsible to wake up people,” said the PO.
“Everyone gets a printed route with departure hours, and I announce all the day before.
“She kept saying:” No, no, hit my door if I did not go out at 8:15 am “and I continued to repeat:” I really can’t do that for everyone, please adjust an alarm. “”
“Well, the day we visit Syracuse, she did not show up.”
‘I cheated on it’
After waiting for 15 minutes and called the woman twice unanswered, the OP and the rest of the group left.
An hour later, the PO received a call from the woman asking where they were. When the PO explained that they had already left, the woman was furious.
“”[She] said I had a job and I cheated on it money She paid to leave this day trip, “wrote the op.” She missed all day and was furious the next day.
“Later, she told the rest of the group that I abandoned her and also called my agency, leaving a bad criticism of me.”
Reddit reacts
More than 1,700 Reddit Users weighed via the comments, with a pointing: “This woman could also have asked for an alarm clock from her hotel.”
Another added: “If I was a paid customer during this tour, I would not be happy that my day begins late because we were waiting for it. The rules are rules.”
“If you were an operator of cruise ships, his lack of being able in time would leave him a port,” noted a reditor.
‘Firm boundaries’
In a message to NowsweekExplained the PO: “The reason why I did not hit their door, in addition to not being in my job description, is that I am still quite young.
“I cannot make personal favors like this, or it undermines my authority as a leader of the group and makes me look more like a maid / secretary, which led tourists to be embraced to expect me to provide them with this service as well.
“You would be surprised to discover how much I would get more than 5 years to ask me for personal alarm clock if I had struck for this lady.
“There must be established firm borders.”
Responsibility for diversion
This kind of behavior—Deflecting responsibility and blaming others – is not uncommon.
As indicated in The Expert EditorPeople who regularly avoid responsibility tend to “divert the blame in all imaginable directions that theirs”.
The article describes behaviors such as selective memory and self-victimization, which prevent them from recognizing their own gaps.
Define expectations
In service industries, professionals should increasingly balance customer satisfaction with personal and operational limits.
As explained by Maggie Patterson in BS free nozzle“You are the expert; sometimes it means telling the customer that he is wrong.”
She underlines that expertise includes the definition of expectations and the maintenance of borders, even when the customer does not agree or becomes combative.
After talking with her manager, the OP said that it was relieved to learn that the complaint would not be held against it.
“He said to me, word for word, ‘hun, I deleted that BS of my email as soon as I read it” “, she wrote, adding:” They will delete the bad criticism! “”
