The 27 -year -old man who drew and killed four people in an office building in Midtown brought a note on Monday in his pocket by saying that he had suffered from CTE and asking for his brain, police sources in ABC News said.
The note also referred to the police, said. The filming on Monday took place at 345 Park Ave., which houses, among other companies, the headquarters of the NFL.
The CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is a brain disease linked to repeated head successes, often observed in military veterans and athletes, including football players, hockey players and boxers. The CTE cannot be diagnosed in a living person with certainty, but doctors can suspect him according to the symptoms and history of cranial trauma.
The suspect, Shane Tamura, who, according to the police, has documented mental health history, played football in high school.

A police officer and a civilian were killed in the center of Manhattan on Monday by a suspect who fled to an office building, police sources said in ABC News.

Tamura would have shot four people, including a police officer on leave working security in an office building in Midtown Manhattan, officials announced at a press conference on Monday evening.
The police have not detailed a potential reason for murders.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a message to the staff, saying that one of the league employees was also injured during the attack.
Sources of application of the law declared that Tamura had two mental health crises in its history in Nevada, one in 2022 and the other in 2024. They generally hold a person to be owned up to 72 hours if they are considered a danger to themselves or for others.
According to a source, when there is this type of taking in Nevada, the police must transport the person to the hospital. Once this happens, medical staff take over and decide how long to hold the person.

NYPD officers and other police are waiting for the ambulance transfer of the NyPD officer Didarul Islam, who was killed in a mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan, in New York-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, in the United States, on July 29, 2025.

A police source of Las Vegas said that Tamura had also obtained her CCW, or concealed the portage, in 2022 and also had an earlier arrest for intrusion into the state.
The three -page note that was on Tamura was described Tuesday by sources as dissecting. It contained references to the NFL that sources described as waves.
The only way to confirm the CTE is by an autopsy by specialists who are looking for specific changes in the brain. Researchers analyze the post-mortem brain to search for tau protein changes that define the CTE.
The disease causes symptoms – which generally appear years after the head trauma – including memory loss, mood changes, confusion and clearly reflection problems.
It is a story in development. Please check the updates.
