The shooting at the University of New Mexico leaves 1 dead, 1 injured; suspect as a whole

One person died and another is injured after a shootout early in the morning in a dormitor’s complex at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, campus police announced on Friday. The suspect of the shooting remains free and could still be on campus, police said.

Police did not say who were the victims or if they were students. The incident took place at Casas del Rio (Gila) of the school (Gila) housing center, The affiliate of CBS Krqe reported.

The University of New Mexico said on social networks that its central campus was closed “by abundance of prudence”. Students were invited to shelter in place and several law enforcement organizations are on the scene, the university said.
