Republican representative Thomas Massie said on Sunday that he was being held with the calls of the Democratic representative Ro Khanna to the assignment of Jeffrey Epstein’s succession for documents related to his case, in particular, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, a birthday letter to Epstein who allegedly written by President Donald Trump in 2003.
“Well, I think we should get much more than the book. Come on the financial files of the succession. Where is it-follow the money, as they say here,” Massie in ABC News “this week” the co-exhibition Jonathan Karl told ABC. “We should examine the right deal. Open that. See what the agreement was? What was the agreement that was concluded? I think there is much more than this letter.”
The Wall Street Journal reported a birthday message that Trump would have written in a message book for the 50th anniversary of Epstein – the president denies that there is and continued the newspaper for defamation on the report. ABC News has not been able to confirm the existence of the letter.
The joint legislation of Massie and Khanna would oblige a vote in the House on the release of Epstein files. However, President Mike Johnson sent the room during a recess in August one day earlier, effectively along the vote. Massie and Khanna are now looking for a discharge petition, which with 218 votes of room members, would bypass Johnson.
Massie said: “It would force a complete release of the files. He has the right of law. It is not an assignment. It is not a” Pretty please, would you say the files? “It is the strength of the law and, it has protections to reduce the names of the victims and prevent, you know, the release of juvenile pornography.”
Khanna added that the democratic interest in this case is not new, despite the statements that the party clung to the case because it causes intestine struggles among some of the Maga of Trump.
“We did pressure for transparency during the Biden administration, both in 2021 and 2024, the court ordered the release of documents, but Donald Trump raised the issues and he did it in a way in the campaign that was justified. He said:` `Look, when I get there, I will release the files ”, said Khanna.
