The New York Jets Justin Fields jets was transported on the ground during training training Thursday with an injury to the right toes, said head coach Aaron Glenn.
Glenn added that it was too early for the team to determine the severity of the injury.
“I guess someone walked on their toes,” said Glenn, according to his knowledge of the game call. “I want to watch the band to be sure.”
Fields was observed to be a drink on the ground, then spent time in the touched injury tent before being finally transported, although he was seated in the passenger seat.
Fields, 26, is in his first season with the jets after having signed a $ 40 million contract over two years (with guaranteed 30 million dollars) with the team in March.
The 11th choice in the first round of the NFL 2021 draft, Fields spent the first three years of his career with the Chicago Bears before being exchanged at the Pittsburgh Steelers before last season. Fields started six games for the Steelers in 2024, launching 1,106 yards and five affected with an interception, but was finally replaced as starter by Russell Wilson.
New York is still looking for answers to the quarter post, because Fields was about to be the fifth team starter in the last three seasons. Fields has been signed to replace Aaron Rodgers, who died, who ironically is now the Pittsburgh starter.
The jets acquired Rodgers in 2023, but he torn his four Achilles games this season before returning to start every game last year.
Since 2016, New York has only had only a quarter of a quarter (Rodgers in 2025) has started each match for a full season.
During his career, Fields appeared in 50 games, reaching 61.1% of his passes for 7,780 yards, with 45 affected and 31 interceptions. His career rating is 83.9. He also ran for 2,509 yards and 19 scores.
The backup of jets on Fields is Tyrod Taylor, who has played in 94 games since he entered the NFL in 2011.
