Washington – The president of the National Republican Committee, Michael Whatley, is preparing to participate in the race at the headquarters of the US Senate in North Carolina, one of the best battlefield competitions of the 2026 cycle, according to three sources familiar with his plans.
Whats’ plans were blessed by the White House, said one of the sources. The former Democrat, the former governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, is also planned, according to three familiar sources with Cooper’s plans. Cooper is expected to announce its candidacy next week, the sources said.
The coveted headquarters of the Senate is canceled by the Republican senator Thom Tillis, who has occupied the headquarters since 2015.
