A plane carrying 49 people crashed Thursday in the East East Russia region, the authorities announced.
The plane, an Antonov-24 with two engines, operated by Angara Airlines, was heading towards the city of Tynda of the city of Blagovenshchensk near the Russian-Chinese border when it disappeared from the radar, said regional governor Vassily Orlo on Telegram.

Forty-three passengers, including five children, were on board with six crew members, reported the Associated Press, citing Orlov.
A rescue helicopter then spotted the burning fuselage of the plane on a mountainside about 10 miles from Tynda, the authorities said.
The helicopter has not seen any evidence of survivors from above, said local rescuers.
The Civil Defense Agency for the Amur region said it was sending rescuers to the scene.
“Currently, 25 people and five equipment units have been sent, and four planes with crews are pending,” he said.
