The former employee of the Ministry of Effectiveness of the Government, Edward Coristine, was allegedly attacked in an attempted car diversion in Washington, DC, during the weekend, according to the police files obtained by CBS News – an incident which led President Trump to threaten the national capital under federal control.
Coristine, 19 – who is known for his online nickname “Big Balls” – would have been surrounded and attacked by a group of around 10 teenagers near his car early on Sunday morning, according to a report by the Metropolitan Police Department. Two 15 -year -old children were arrested and accused of unarmed car.
Coristine and his significant other later said to the police that they “had seen the suspects approach and comment on the taking of the vehicle” and “for his safety, he pushed his significant other … in the vehicle and turned to treat the suspects,” said the police report. The police officers who patrolled in the region spotted the incident and left their cruiser, leading most of the teenagers to flee on foot, but two of the attackers were arrested, identified by Coristine and arrested.
The two orders were only identified by police as a 15 -year -old man and a 15 -year -old woman from Hyattsville, Maryland. Police said in a statement that “several suspects remain exceptional”.
Emergency medical services have not transported anyone as part of the incident, DC Fire and EMS told CBS News.
A black iPhone 16 has also been stolen, depending on the report.
Before the release of the police report, Trump posted on the incident on Truth Social, sharing a photo of what seemed to be an “incredible young man” who, according to him, was “beaten without local thugs”. The billionaire Elon Musk – The former Dogee chief – said later that the victim was a member of Doge. He wrote that the staff spotted a group of people who tried to reach a young woman, and “ran to defend her and was seriously beaten to the cerebral point”, although the description of the Musk of the incident did not line up with the police report and the extent of Coristine’s injuries was not clear.
CBS News contacted Musk to comment.
Trump said that crime in the national capital is “completely out of control” and called on the authorities to “continue these” minors “in adulthood, and lock them for a long time, from 14 years.
The president also threatened to put DC under federal control if the city does not “meet and quickly”.
“If that continues, I will exercise my powers and federalize this city,” he wrote.
Trump supported the idea of federating DC in the past. The Constitution gives the Congress the power to govern the City, but since 1973, the federal government has enabled DC residents to elect a mayor and a municipal council which manage most aspects of the local government. The autonomy of the city is still limited, the Congress being practiced by the right to replace local laws – and the congress could choose to repeal the 52 -year -old driving of the city.
Jeanine Pirro, the American lawyer for DC, said in a statement: “It is time that we are starting to take crime more seriously, whatever the age of the criminal. We can no longer shock young criminals while innocent victims are attacked and mutilated and young criminals avoid consequences. It is time to finish.”
Coristine was one of the best known members of the Musk Doge team, who swept the federal government earlier this year in order to reduce public spending. He participated in DOGE efforts in the American agency for international development, the social security administration, health and social services and other agencies.
Coristine resigned from the federal government at the end of June. He joined the federal service a few days later as an employee of the Special Government to the Social Security Administration, which told CBS News at the time that it was focused on “improving the functionality of the Social Security website”.
In May, Coristine was part of a round table of DOGE employees who were interviewed alongside Elon Musk on the “Watters’ World” by Fox News. He said his work involved examining the “payment computers” in the federal government.
Asked about his pseudonym “big balls”, Coristine explained that it was an ironic username that he had chosen on Linkedin.
“The people of LinkedIn take themselves very seriously, and they are quite opposed to the risk. And I said to myself:” Well, I don’t want to be none of these things “,” he said.
