The British High Commissioner meets the Prime Minister, bilateral relations, regional status

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and British High Commissioner Pakistan Jane Marriott discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, including the Middle East, regional status.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott at the Prime Minister’s house during the meeting, the Prime Minister said that he was waiting for his meeting with the UK leadership later this year.

He welcomed the recent decision by the British government to restore the flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and said that this positive development would help in solving the difficulties faced by the British Pakistani community and also enhances the exchange of people.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the positive role of the British High Commissioner in this regard.

Expressing satisfaction over the positive pace of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the UK, Shahbaz Sharif said that the recent trade talks between the two countries would be mutually beneficial for both sides.

He said that Pakistan is also cooperating with the UK in the United Nations Security Council, which is currently headed by Pakistan.

The meeting also discussed the regional situation in South Asia and the Middle East.

The Prime Minister praised Britain’s role in reducing Pak-India tension, reiterating that Pakistan is ready for meaningful dialogue on all settlement issues with India.

The British High Commissioner told the Prime Minister about his recent visit to London, where he consulted to increase relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

The British High Commissioner appreciated the government’s economic performance in the last one and a half years and spoke with the Prime Minister about the UK’s point of view on regional progress in South Asia and Middle East.
