Indian off -spinning all -rounder Washington Sunder has played the role of KL Rahul in which he was able to remove the ball from the right -handed batsmen. The 25 -year -old said that Rahul shone the ball well and strictly, which helped the ball away from the right hand.
Sunder took two wickets in the lunch session after 3 days of the fourth Test, dismissing Oli Pope and Harry Brook, with a flow that betrayed both batsmen. Talking to Chatishwar Pujara on the Sony Sports Network, he said:
“I mean, it’s just a blessing. I mean, I just focus on the task that I have to do. Obviously, the situation here helps and the fact that KL (Rahul) is really good and shining at all times.
During this series, Sunder also claimed in his bowling with the flow of left -handed batsmen. He dismissed England’s Captain Ben Stokes LBW in the last over before tea in Edgbaston. The ball entered and hit Stokes on the pads, and the umpire lifted his finger.

In December 2024, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his international retirement, Washington Sunder has emerged as India’s new off -spinning option. Tamil Nadu cricketer relied on head coach Gautam Gambhir to help him with tactics on an ongoing tour of England.
“Yes, Ash (R Ashwin) has helped me clearly every time, whenever I was here, every time we were here with the Indian team. Yes, I have also worked with a friend of mine and that my really continues my basics all the time. In particular, I have felt with the strategy, especially I have felt it, especially I felt with it.
Washington Sunder was selected as the second spinner of Kuldeep Yadav, who played XI for the second Test match in India for the second Test match in Adbaston. He took four wickets in the second innings at Lord’s, which helped India restrict England to 192 runs.
