Peak is one of the biggest games on the planet at the moment, after the clumsy mountain throat game, the mass popularity shot after its release.

The multiplayer climbing game was released on Steam on June 16, 2025, but its popularity increased a week later when it started to appear in Twitch Streams and the YouTube videos of popular creators. Since then, this has endured a massive popularity with a peak of all time of 114,492 simultaneous players on Steam, bigger than even a few triple-a games.

Team peak

As often happens with popular viral games, imitators were not far behind, and one of these imitators drew the attention of the co-developer Aggro Crab Games. The game in question is a Roblox game called Cliff, which seems to have been developed by Pewstudio. Cliff, who seems to use illustrations and images very similar to Peak, and has more than 4.8 million “visits” on Roblox. Pewstudio also admits directly being inspired by Peakin his description, offering a “special thank you to these incredible creators”.

Aggro Crab Games did not appreciate the special thanks, calling the game on X (formerly Twitter) and encouraging players to hack Peak instead of playing the Roblox game.

“TBH prefers that you hack our game rather than playing this @Roblox Slow scam at microtransaction @Roblox,” said the post, alongside screenshots of the hall and the game store page. Another co-developer Landfall Games has agreed, citing the message with a simple “costed”.

As with many Roblox games, Cliff offers a number of microtransactions, which are the main way in which Roblox developers earn money from their creations. Cliff has microtransactions for five items, ranging from 49 Robux (approximately 0.60 USD) for a “parrot friend” at 200 Robux (around 2.50 USD) for a “climbing draw”. Buying all the microtransactions of the game would cost once $ 8-that is to say how high steam costs in advance.

At the time of writing the editorial staff, the peak is only available on Steam, but the two game developers said they wanted to bring the game to the consoles in the future.
