New Delhi, (UNI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to lift the judicial ban on the Hindi film ‘Udpur files’ based on the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli in Udaipur.

A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Jayatriya Bagchi refused to intervene in the interim order of the Delhi High Court, saying that the Central Government (Delhi High Court) could investigate the film and till then the case will be pending for hearing on relevant petitions.

The bench said in its order, “We will keep the case pending. We can take advantage of the government’s position before the High Court. Suppose the Center does not say anything wrong in this, we will consider it. Can wait.”

The Supreme Court said that a committee constituted to take a decision on objections on the film should take immediate decision on the matter. While setting the date for the next hearing in the case, the bench said, “We hope that the relevant committee will take immediate decision at the request of a review without wasting time.”

It is clear that the film was scheduled to release from July 11, but earlier on July 10, the Delhi High Court stopped the interim. The court issued a stay order after hearing the petitions of Zameet Ulema -E -India President Arshad Madani and others.

The film production company has challenged this order in the Supreme Court. On the other hand, accused Mohammad Javed, accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, has also approached the Supreme Court to ban the film.
