Local officials in Afghan capital Kabul said that six miners were killed and 18 were injured when a coal mine collapsed in northern Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Baglan region of northern Afghanistan, where at least 10 miners lost their lives in February 2022.
Syed Mustafa Hashmi, head of the Provincial Information and Culture Office, told AFP that a part of the mine was ‘suddenly collapsed’, killing six people.
He said that 18 people have been admitted to the hospital without describing the seriousness of his wounds.

Apart from coal in Afghanistan, there are marble, minerals, gold, lithium and precious stones.
The mining industry is rarely monitored and deadly accidents are frequent. Miners often work without proper equipment or protective equipment.
In December 2024, another 22 people were caught in the collapse of coal in another northern province of the summons, but they were rescued after hard work for hours.
