Pedrag Herrington birds on his last hole for five U -65 on Friday, and gave him a shot lead at the Senior British Open when he goes for the second senior title of this year.
Defending champions Jay Choi had late in the second phase of the old course of Saningdel until he took the boogies on the 16th and 17th. Choi had to settle for 67 and was shot along with Thomas Borne, which had 63.
Herrington is trying to become the fifth player to win the British Open and Senior British Open.
“Where I should score, and then I had to suffer on many other holes,” said Herrington. “Apply some recovery shots and arranged my game, but I never showed much confidence in my swing. I clearly like these 72 holes, and the big courses of golf are me.”
Senior British Open PGA is the fifth Major in Champions. Regular tournaments are 54 holes. Herrington won the US Senior Open in Colorado’s Broadmor.
On Friday, he was angry Dean and worked in his favor. He was angry with herself to ruin a good start in the opening round with three boogies on the last four holes. He initially turned this frustration into four birds in five holes.
He made the 320 Yard 11th Eagle. And after leaving the shots on the 16th and 17th holes, he finished with the burde.
Borne said, “It is here now that I know that I played well yesterday and I was hitting the ball well. I knew I was playing well, but I was just angry.”
“I wanted to start and hit a great shot at 2, which is not like the burde, and then I put some good shots from there.
“The first 12 holes were just an absolute happiness.”
The two shots were also involved in Erne Ellis and Justin Leonard, who cut the British Open in the Royal Portrash last week.
