SDPI, ICIMOD for Strategic Climate Partnership to Guard Hindu Kush Future

The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the International Center for Integrated Mountin Development (ICIMOD) on Friday signed a memorandum of a memorandum (MO) to promote research, regional cooperation and climate-flexible development in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pema Gyamatsho emphasized moral obligation to serve HKH Mountains and their communities. “This is an honor to serve the region,” he said, “We should ensure a safe, more secure HKH through cooperation and not praise behind the regression conflicts.” He also appreciated the role of Pakistan’s diplomatic leadership for promoting environmental cooperation and said that scientists and experts in the region should be empowered to correct growing climate concerns and crisis.

As part of the incident, Dr. Gyamatsho, former federal minister Khurram Dastagir Khan, PM’s coordinator for climate change and environmental coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam, and Dr. Sarli presented a souvenir for his leadership and commitment to regional cooperation.

Exposing the broad vision behind the MoU, Dr. Sulri said that a fresh partnership makes evidence-based policy for the SDPI’s comment. He said, “This cooperation allows us to increase the voice of HKH Mountains on global platforms and work towards a flexible devil in Pakistan and beyond and beyond.”
