For a week in this summer, we were the captain of our own Greek adventure. With non -useful domestic charts and opening my laptop, we simply enjoyed quality time together – and a generous stretch of ionian blue. Welcome to the charging plates of Veliho Bay, an independent family operating by an independent family operating by an independent family, SAIL EONAN, a Floral Sailing Holiday-Court charging plates.
Without being gentle, we were easier than some expectation in favorable winds, small hops between the islands, and a sun that rarely was ready to offer the clock. Most of our training has been in somewhat less invited conditions from the West Coast of Scotland, but this wound hopes that we put us in good position for the expectation of AnX.
The idea of sailing in a group –
What is a floral holiday?
There is a small fleet of a floral boats – usually no more than ten – traveling the same route. Each evening, everyone gathers on the same port or ankrage, but in the day, you are free to the sails, exploration, meander, race, or stop at your wish. Some companies offer a social program every evening every evening, while the other – like cell eonian – do not, allow you to mix a little with others as you like.
Support comes as a lead crew that takes guidance, advice and sometimes steps while struggling with Moore. It is a lighter touch with a light touch. Guidance without infiltration. And our experts in the Floral Support Team skipper Maria (who went to the Radney Radio for some reason!), Erwin, and Nick – all were all cool under pressure, and always need to appear, such as a notal genes.
What is requested to raise a boat?
In Greece, at least one person on board requires ICC, each other adult must be at the level of ‘competent crew’ – essentially someone who knows his port from his starboard and will not tie them with bounce.
As a Captain of a Rya Day, a theory and practical component is recommended for at least 40-hour study experience, such as 5-day Rya Capable Druce Team courses). Once you have Rya Day Skipper Qualification, you can get ICC certification, but currently it is not necessary for Greece – just the day skipper will benefit.
We were a mixed party of ten adults, agreeing with two families -four worthy days of different specialization in our family and six enthusiastic novels in the other. We are interested in charter to two boats, but the rules would not have allowed us to cut and change personnel regularly on each, so we eat all of us for a boat.
It is designed for an ideal balance of experience and fresh-eye surprise, with sufficient skills for the sail independently, but there is no lack of fear for what we think about experiencing.
Our boat
Our floating house for the week was tea, a Bavaria 46 style boat, which is placed in Pal Eonian impeccable condition.
She claims in-mast furling, a self-tacking Genoa, Bo Thorater, General, and that rare aegian luxury-air conditioning. The cockpit was huge, shaded by a bimini, and the salon was equally generous.
Tea Anau sleeps ten people – of course, on board with ten of us, it was comfortable – but we would be in the case of cans and were ready for it … It’s a good job that we get well. Like -As the week was a foothold, many of us preferred to sleep under the stars on the deck, because it was cute and calm.
There was a beautiful reception basket that greeted us on arrival, TEO.

Our path
Our path we were to take South Eonians, calling a variety of different islands, with an accurate itinery, such as Vakey proceeded, denying leather computations. Here is where our journey took us:
Day 1: Vliho Bay, Lefkada to Vathy, Meganisi
The cell is not ionian dilly-directly. After a welcome briefing and yacht handover by Christ, we were away from the dock and were motorizing through the Waliho Strait by Letonon. The sea was soft, our souls were high, and we were eager for the adventure that lay forward.
We made a pre -cut between Scorpioce and spartor – Scorpioos once owned by the Onasis family, now immersed in billionaire mystery. Our destination: Vaathy on Meganisi, where a table awakened us in Colongio, which draws a beachsed tavena draw in boganvilla and attraction. A first US padelboard after dinner, because … why not? When in Greece …
Day 2: Vaathy, Magni to Shivota, Lefkada
Before setting up again, the speed of the fender and a slight parking practice is increasing. Between Meganis and Lefkada, we caught a fleeting glimpse of dolphins – very quickly for the camera, but enough to put a big smile on our features.
We dropped the anchor in Micros Jialos for a swim and snorkel, before we were going out of Tarna ionian. Our waiter has a very character and even posted for a selfie with our group, tells us a story or two, and us catch the day’s catch – red snapper and dorde, just grilled, fully served layer.
Day 3: Shivota, Lafkada from Fiscardo, Kefalonia
The wind was in our favor. We left – really Dramas Most of the route at about 4-5 knots, a type of untoward speed that makes you feel the time on the flow of water.
Fiscardo is not a secret-one pastel-paint port, where the supertich compete with the jasmine’s visual espresso with chart boats. We quickly make landfalls to secure a location and talk on the tender on Foki Beach, where we discovered a brain lime cave with tunnels, which is more than 100 meters deep.
That night dinner was a curlball, which was recommended by our support crew:
Day 4: Fiscardo, Vathi from Kefalonia, Ital
There are many Vaathy in Greece, and today we visited another: (‘Vaathy’ comes from the Greek word “βαθύς” (Vathýs), which means “dark” – a suitable details for the sheltering Harbers that tolerates their name.)
We first stayed at the fileotro medium-turvuz, crystalline, postcard-perfect and spent a house in swimming, loungeing and padboarding. That night, the second anchor, we left Torna and cooked the rider Tea anou A dinner with stars as our roof.
Day 5: Vaathy, Ethaka to Kalamos, Kalamos Island
After a mooring stroll, we said that towards the island of Atkos, a dramatic hunk of rock with aquamarine water – and pigs.
Yes, boar. Regarding various principles why they are, from Shipavrak to the source of food, they create unexpected icons. But if you should travel, please remember that these are wild animals and do not pick them up because we saw a cord’s attempt … Piglet’s mother was not so happy!
Later, we reached Kalamos, where we wore on Alogoboro Beach, the most amazing solitude that we enjoyed ourselves.
Dinner was in George Taverna, a local favorite with the most delishouse chicken hundredlaki.
Day 6: Kalamos, Kalamos Island to Palaros, Mainland Greece
Many of us – ourselves were included – was running each day. This morning’s challenge: A 180 meter climb in the Church of Agios Georgios before breakfast in George. Built in 1886, this loan Basilica offered extensive ideas and, perhaps, a little cardio-inspired clarity.
A day later on the boat, the east of Mytikas stopped to swim in a beautiful bay, we anchored with palairos, boyfriend ashore, and found once with Chool Refresh and a Duol Table. We enjoyed dinner at sunset.
Day 7: Palairos, Mainland Greece to Vathy, Megani
With the storm in the forecast and our flotilla returns Emine, we have decided to return to Vaathy, Megani, an acquaintance, where we can venue Tarna. But before that, we anchored into Pachara Bay, cooled with swimming and messed up all around the padboard eater side of an on -board lunch.
Day 8: Vaathy, Megani to Waliho Bay, Lefkada
A small, cool morning motor brought us completely. The Eonian Sun shone all week and we were now a little more restricted, a little salt, and completely smiled.
We have packed our things, have disintegrated Te Anau and have late breakfast at the Wali Yot Club, before our concerned families said our farewell, but not promising to do similar adventure together next year. We did not have holidays because we have a few days left
final call
Often when people think of luxury sailing holidays, they can be of silver trays and white gloves. It was not all like this – it was better. It was informal, magical, lightly chaotic (ten of us after all), and fully joyful. And luxury came together as time, endless laughter and a True Memalal Memalable Experience.
We talk about selfies with pigs. We ate red snapper which was caught only for hours. We somehow managed to rote the seven -day Florila in eight days of staying on a boat. And the floatla set-up gave us freedom with a safety trap. Adventure with guidance. Freedom with isolation.
Will we again do it? Absolutely. Next time, we can keep a tally how many times we said, “This is life”.
