Punjab government decided to connect media payment with timely salary to journalists

In a major moto to protect the rights of media employees, the Punjab government has decided to connect the official payment to media outlets.

Lahore, (Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th July 2025) In a large step to protect the rights of media workers, the Punjab government has decided to connect official payments with media outlets with timely disbursing their employees.

This decision was taking a second meeting of the issues of the address of the Special Committee facing by the journalists, which was headed by Secretary Information Punjab, Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani, on the instructions of information and culture Azma Bokhari.

Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Punjab Ghulam Sagir Shahid and Chief Representatives of Media and Journalist organizations were present.

According to the new policy, government advertisements and payment for both electronic and print media outlets will be concluded on their completion with timely pay payment. The DGPR has been empowered with the payment of media houses found by default on salary disbursement.

In addition, all media organizations will now be requested to submit the DGPR as proof of compliance.

In another important development, the committee approved the reduction in recommended experience for press accounts from 10 years to 5 years. The decision is expected to be more beneficial in the early and medium stages of a large number of journalists working, their career.

Given the meeting, media stakeholders also unanimously supported the ongoing DGPR campaign, which confirms his commitment to promote writer and resourceability journalism, to eliminate dummy newspapers.

The meeting was attended by the representation of high-profile media, which included Sarmad Ali (President), Kazam Khan (President), Hafiz Tariq Mahmood (Secretary, Amendment), Ayaz Khan (Senior Vice President, CPNE), and Epins members Nurullah and Mohsin Mumtaz.
