Prime Minister approves digital ecosystem in FBR

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday approved the establishment of a modern and world -digital ecosystem in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

He also directed to appoint internationally famous experts.

According to the State News Agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the Prime Minister said in a review meeting on progress on the ongoing reforms in the FBR, the Prime Minister said that the economy was moving in a positive direction for recent reforms.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Chairman FBR, Chief Coordinator Musharraf Zaidi, economist and other top officials.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the meeting was informed on the establishment of a modern digital ecosystem for the meeting of FBR data and the real -time monitoring of the price series.

Presiding over the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that not only digitization but a comprehensive digital ecosystem should be installed to strengthen the new system. He directed that the production of raw materials and the manufacture of goods and the procurement of consumers should be added to a system.

The Prime Minister said that the system should be made so effective that the actual digital monitoring of the entire value can be possible.

He further stated that consolidated data under this system should be used in economic and strategic decisions.

The Prime Minister insisted that the target of taxation for the common man can be achieved only when the tax net increases and the informal economy is abolished.
