Jeff Altman, the Big Game Hunter discusses many ways to do pre-interview research so that you are well prepared for your interview.
I am Jeff Altman, big sports hunter. I coach people. I do career and leadership coaching.
I am the head coach for Jobsearch.community. I can’t believe that I have not done this subject before. In all these years, I have not done a video about pre-interview research. Well, I am going to do it right now and its lack is less experienced people who reduce the importance of pre-interview research and those of you are more experienced, you know how useful it can be for your preparation.
Let me walk through you whether you are experienced, whether you are an experienced person or less experienced person, some methods you can do research before the interview. Now, I believe you started with the company’s research. You want to be able to answer this question, what do you know about our firm and why do you want to work here? Now, I have received videos why you want to work here.
But what do you know about our company? You want to be able to speak positively. So, of course, you can visit the website. You can search a Google.
You know, you can see job details in advance. Which helps you prepare a job. If you are working with a recruiter, you can talk with them what they know about the firm and the manager who is at work.
The website, as I said, Google firm and its products. Take a look at their LinkedIn profile. Search YouTube.
Talk to the people within your network, especially when you start receiving the hiring manager. Now, when you are looking at the interviewer, you search for a Google, which is going to take you up to LinkedIn and you take a look at their linkedIn profiles to get a sense of equality. What do you have with this person? Do you know someone who has previously worked in another organization? What is their educational background? How is their professional history? Because these are signs for their background and what their interests are.
Search an X. See if they are on Twitter. And just look at the types of things they are posting, or they are sharing, or they are commenting because it will give you a sense of their personality and their thought process.
Are they particularly in LinkedIn groups? Are they preferring and sharing special types of information on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook? This is a quick thing. It does not take a lot of time. But the second thing is to always tap in your personal network.
They can know people. If you know that this person has worked, I don’t know, Facebook before, or google, or microsoft, or microsoft, or goldman, or whome, and you know someone who works around the time, see if you can be able to reach them. If they know them, if they can dig little, give you some feedback or information, it will be useful.
I know last week, I was giving coaching to someone who was doing an interview. And he was meeting a person in a group director, SVP level, who was running multidimensional things for an organization. And he was told, it is a rubbish man, very serious.
You have to deal with him in a serious way. And it was very helpful for him. And he met the network of his relationships who knew this person.
You only want to be able to achieve the feeling of what you are doing, and how they are going to react, because it just helps you feel comfortable. And with comfort, most people are able to perform better than walking in the cold. Therefore, I hope you find it helpful.
And I want to encourage you, visit my website, which is Thebigamehunter.us. The blog has a ton that you can see, listen or read which will help you find work more quickly. And I also want to mention this, if you are interested in my coaching, then reach me. I would like to prepare for the interview with you, as well as other gams of those things that I do in coaching through job search.
Reach me to connect on LinkedIn on LinkedIn. I mentioned that you saw the video because I like to know that I am helping people. And once we join, give me the message that you are interested in coaching. We will schedule a time for a free search call.
