Peshawar:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unanimously approved a proposal about the change in the name of South Waziristan.
During the final meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asif Khan, a member of the Provincial Legislative Assembly, presented a resolution saying that South Waziristan is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Mehsud is mainly inhabited and its population is more than 90 %.
He said that the current name of the district has no cultural compatibility and does not reflect the major identity of the region, so it advises to change the name of the district in the name of Mehsud Waziristan so that the cultural identity is compatible with the identity of the local population.
