Parent and wires in the woods – Internet amazed by what they discover

A hiker and their young son came across what seemed to be a “spiritual altar” of fortune at the bottom of the woods – and the Internet cannot stop speculating what it means.

The viral post, shared by Reddit user U / CORYS_STORIES In the Subredit R / Whatsit on July 18, has since attracted 37,000 votes and thousands of comments.

“My son and me I saw that in the woods.. WTF Is it?

“It seems to be a kind of spiritual altar or something,” wrote the poster. “The candle is read as follows:” Eros, God of lost love and defrosting “or” eros, God of lust, love and desire “. I could not say if the word was” lost “or” lust “but I think it was” lost “.

In a later comment, the user added: “I put everything back where he was. I think we left something there. It was a while ago now.”

THE unexpected mysterious discovery Comes at a time when the hike has great popularity through the United States. The day hike ranked as the most popular outdoor activity in the United States in 2023, with 20% of participating, according to Statista. Outdoor leisure contributed to around $ 640 billion to the US economy last year. The national parks alone saw a record of 331.9 million visitors in 2024, according to the National Park Service.

‘Sweet’ against ‘harmful’

As for the Post Reddit, the interpretations were rapid and varied. Some users have seen the scene with spiritual sympathy, while others have seen it wrong or even irresponsible for the environment.

“It looks like a spiritual altar, probably linked to love or loss,” wrote U / -Thesilverscream-. “References to Eros, combined with shells, pink objects, perfume and personal objects, suggest that it is a configuration of supply. Almost certain is that it is the personal thing of someone, would not spoil if I was you. Maybe they went through a break?”

Other commentators have hypothesized that the altar could be a way to deal with sorrow. “With the children’s toy gun and the Lego shampoo, I may suspect someone who lost a child?” wrote u / cd_projeck_blue. “Anyway, I wouldn’t like it with [original poster]. It’s the way to face someone, I think. “”

Another user, U / SPARE-WILLINGGNESS563, offered a more poetic reading, saying: “Only the person who did it could respond correctly, but you are right. He has a very soft atmosphere. As two minds have done together rather than one.”

But all the answers were not so soft. Several users have criticized the altar as a form of trash and have expressed their frustration that spiritual practices can lead to environmental degradation.

“It looks like a fairly rudimentary attempt at love or altar for a magical work in a way. Certainly an inexperienced person doing so, however. Whoever having experience did not just leave him,” said U / Longdayinrehab. “He is disrespectful of the nature of polluting it like that.”

“It looks like someone’s teenage idea,” added U / feisty_pollution7036. “I would also pack it. I don’t think the fauna needs a facial roll or eat a candle.”

Others were more blunt. “It is harmful to be random bins left in the wild. It is litters,” wrote U / Forroiboi. “Do not leave it there, the random plastic shit should not have been left there in the first place. What a selfish state of mind.”

“The detritus are harmful and religious practitioners based on nature should better know,” echoes U / FrogonmyToe.
