Islamabad, (APP – Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th July, 2025) Pakistan has won its first gold medal in the prestigious Science Olympiad, marking a historical achievement for the country.
Mr. Abdul Rafe Parach of Siddiq Public School won the gold medal for Pakistan
The Pakistan team participated under the sponsorship of the STEM career program, a joint venture of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applicated Sciences (PIEAS).
The team led Dr. Asma Imran and Dr. Asma Rahman did a constitutional institute of the National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Pieas and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commissions.
Ms. Ayon Aslam from Government College University, Lahore received a respectable mention, while Ms. Sadia Zulfikar (Siddiq Public School, Rawalpindi) and Mr.
Aroz Fatima (Fucersial College, Shakargarh, Narowal) also represented Pakistan in the competition.
Pieas, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), are working under the aegis of National Science Talent Contest (NSTC), which in four subjects NNNLE: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The NSTC evolved from the National Physics Talent Contest (NPTC), which began in 1995 and recorded from 2003.
Pakistan has participated in the International Physics Olympiad since 2001, International Mathematics Olympiad since 2005 and Biology and Chemistry Olympiad since 2006.
To date, more than 380 students have represented Pakistan at the International Science Olympiad, winning 140 medals, which have reached through 240 transing camps held in HEC Institute across the country.
