Pakistan and United States are very close to trade agreement: Ishaq Dar

Federal Foreign Minister and Deputy Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the trade agreement between the United States and Pakistan is ‘very close’ and may be reached in a few days.

“I think we are very close to finalizing the deal with the United States,” Ishaq Dar told the Atlantic Council Think Tank in Washington on Friday. Our teams are in Washington, virtual meetings were also held, and the Prime Minister has given the task of a committee to finalize the details. ,

He said, “It is not a matter of months, but not even weeks, I would say (only) days.”

According to the Reuters News Agency, however, when US State Secretary Marco Rubio met Ishaq Dar after a statement from US authorities, there was no mention of any time.

According to Pakistan’s State -Run News Agency App, Ishaq Dar emphasized the need for a permanent system of peace in South Asia, saying that the United States as a global power and partner should give rise to creative and stability.

Referring to the ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May 2025, he said, “The United States emerged as a reliable arbitration of peace and stability in South Asia.”

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister thanked US President Trump for the convenience of ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

He said: ‘Unlike India, we are firm to maintain this ceasefire. We believe in peace. We have never taken initiative in provoking, we only took action in defense under the United Nations Charter. ,

He said that relations between Pakistan and the United States are getting permanent, widespread and constantly developing.

“Whenever the two countries showed solidarity on global issues, this partnership proved to be fruitful. After taking over as President Trump, we have been encouraged by the tendency to improve bilateral relations.”

He said that he had a very fruitful meeting with US State Secretary Marco Rubio, in which both sides expressed their commitment to strengthen and expand relations between Pakistan and the United States.

“Both countries are getting closer to each other, and within six months we have made significant progress in bilateral relations.”

Ishaq Dar reminded that in his joint address to the US Congress, President Trump acknowledged Pakistan’s major support in the fight against global terrorism.

He said that the world is changing rapidly and old assurance is replaced with new facts.

He emphasized that Pakistan believes in peace with perseverance and responsibility. Pakistan is a young population with a population of 24 million, which is the fifth largest country in the world and nuclear power.
