The children of an elderly British couple imprisoned in Afghanistan have appealed to the Taliban government for immediate release of their parents, who feared that if immediate action had not been taken, they could lose their lives in custody.
The 76 -year -old Barbie Reynolds and her 80 -year husband Peter Reynolds were arrested by the Taliban on 1 February this year when they were returning home in Bamiyan province of Afghanistan. Both husband and wife have been imprisoned for more than five months without allegations and were imprisoned in separate security jails eight weeks ago.
Reynolds have been located in Afghanistan for the last 18 years and are running on education and training there.
Even after the Taliban came to power in 2021, he decided to stay there instead of leaving the country.
All four of their children, who live in the United States and the United Kingdom, have expressed serious concern over their parents’ deteriorating health.
He says that his parents are suffering from many diseases and imprisonment conditions can prove fatal to them.
The children said in a statement: ‘This is another immediate appeal to the Taliban that’ our parents should be released, before it is too late and they lose their lives in custody. He has spent 18 years of his life in the service of Afghan people. ,
Children say that they have written a private letter to Taliban leadership twice in the last two months to make the release of parents possible and show respect. However, now they are forced to break the silence.
His daughter, Sara Ant Wasal said that all attempts to release his parents have proved to be useless.
He said: ‘We appealed to the Taliban at a private level to stick to their principles like compassion, justice and human dignity. Now we are repeating the same appeal at the public level. ,
He said that the United Nations will issue a statement on Monday that would demand immediate release of the couple.
According to him: ‘In the last two months, we have kept the media a blackout to assure the Taliban that we rely on their actions and are silent with a sense of respect.’
He said that a legal firm named Dot Street Chambers has approached the United Nations special representative for violence in this case.
Five weeks ago, the children were last approached to her mother in which she said that her husband’s condition was deteriorating rapidly. Later, a cardiologist conducted an online medical examination and showed the possibility that Peter Rrenalds had either silent heart attack or stroke influence.
He said that the face of Peter Rrenalds has turned red, which is flowing and bleeding and it could be an indication that his skin has returned to cancer.

His mother also has to face severe physical weakness. Their legs are heard, which is a possible cause of anemia and there is a loss of food in the gel. Experts have warned that their health is deteriorating.
The couple were married in Kabul in 1970 and this week they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in jail.
According to the children, they were imprisoned in the Bridge Charkhi Jail in Kabul eight weeks ago, where he used to talk to his children daily from the courtyard of the jail over the phone. Later, he was transferred to the intelligence agency ‘DGI’, where he was expected to be released in two to three days, but now more than two months have passed and no progress has been made.
The children said that although the ‘DGI’ jail is relatively good, their parents do not have beds or furniture and sleep on the ground on the ground.
The officials of the British Foreign Office were allowed to meet exceptionally last Thursday to inquire about their wells.
A spokesperson of the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the families of two British citizens who are imprisoned in Afghanistan.”
United Nations representative Anti -Avolatens Ellis Edwards said in a statement on Monday: ‘We do not see any reason to keep this weak couple in captivity. We demand immediate review of the causes of their custody. In such derogatory situations, his imprisonment is inhuman, especially when his health has become very important.
