Multi-stakeholder consultation reviews KP Protection and Welfare Policy for Transgeed

A multi-interest holder counseling on the drift Khyber Pakhtunkhwa protection and welfare policy for transgender proposed the proposed recommendations to ensure that the legal document is inclusive and compressedly adds the need for this highly weak and marginalized community.

Peshawar, (Urdupoint / Pakistan Point News – 24th July, 2025) Dr. A multi -stakeholder counseling on Pakhtunkhwa protection and welfare policy addresses the needs of the community in this highly weak and marginalized to ensure that the legal documents include inclusive and compressed.

Consultation was jointly organized by the Social Welfare Department KP, National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and Blue Ways Organization in the committee room of Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) on Thursday.

The workshop was attached by people belonging to various fields of life, including government officials, representatives of civil society, lawyers, transit workers, academics and media persons.

In his reception, Additional Secretary Social Welfare Department KP, Umara Khan said that counseling is part of the Social Welfare Department, which is part of the ongoing commitment to protect the rights of transgender individuals and rights to protect the rights.

To see the input and suggestion made by the participants in the counseling workshop that it will send the policy framework as an instant to refine and strengthen the policy to be as a result of the needs of the community.

Program manager Blue veins said that the community got a separate awakening of a decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, giving a detailed background of the legislation made so far for the rights for the transgender community.

The same decision, Qamar continued, helped the transgender community issue X Identity Card.

In 2018, the Transgender Persons Protection and Rights actions were passed, which was later helped by the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) on issues of right-wolf identity and heritage rights.

Qamar said that this protection and welfare policy for transgender was prepared in 2017 and now the government wanted to re -distribute the needs of the community.

Known social worker and former provincial Lokpal, Raksha Naz insisted on making policy as a ‘meaningful’ to ensure all the requirements of the Transus community.

He said that at present, the transgender community is facing a lot of difficulty in getting an X card. Due to lack of legal documents, the community cannot open any bank account, while a job of 0.5 percent has not been completed by the quota government.

He said that the KP Transgender Welfare Policy should be in line with international laws and obligations and the plan of action for its implementation should be chewed.

Duuring counseling workshop separate groups were formed, where stakeholders made a written form for the guidance of the relevant department.

Deputy Secretary Social Welfare, Nuderat thanked the attendees of the workshop and assured the implementation
