Representation of MPs was mandatory in the governing bodies of government and private universities in Punjab, the Punjab Legislative Assembly passed the Universities and the Institute Amendment Bill 2025, which was signed by the Governor today and became an Act.
According to Express News, the Punjab Legislative Assembly has approved amendment of rules related to public and private sector universities, under the amendment bill, various acts and ordinances have been changed, MPs are depicted in the governing bodies of all public and private universities in Punjab.
The bill states that each university board will consist of three MPs, including at least one female members, the MPs will nominate the Punjab Assembly, legally legalized to include MPs in all the revised acts, in some institutions, the number of women MPs has been ‘one’.
According to the bill, Punjab University, Agricultural Culture Faisalabad, UET Lahore Act has been amended. The amendment of Bahauddin Zakaria University, Islamia University Bahawalpur, UET Taxella Act has been approved.
Amendment in the rules of Erid Agricultural Culture Rawalpindi, Fatima Jinnah Women’s University, Veterinary University Lahore was approved, Health Sciences University, Conrad College, Southern Punjab Act University was approved.
Changes have also been made in private companies like Global Institute, Qureshi University, Times Institute. The Amendment Bill will be implemented immediately and has been implemented on all concerned agencies
