Malcolm-Jamal Warner, better known for playing in “The Cosby Show”, died. He was 54 years old.
Warner accidentally drowned in Costa Rica, according to the authorities.
The Costa Rica’s judicial investigations department said on Monday that Warner drowned on Sunday afternoon on a beach on the Coast of the Caribbean of Costa Rica. He swam in Playa Cocles in the province of Limon when a current pushed him deeper into the ocean.
“He was rescued by people on the beach,” said the initial report in the department, but the first stakeholders in the Costa Rica Red Cross found it without vital signs and was taken to the morgue.
Warner first took place his role as Theo Huxtable, the fictitious son of Bill Cosby, in “The Cosby Show”, which took place for eight seasons on NBC from 1984 in the early 90s. He was nominated for an Emmy for an exceptional support actor for the role.
The native of New Jersey continued to play in “Malcolm & Eddie” opposite Eddie Griffin, and tried to stage, according to his IMDB profile. Its director Credcites includes episodes of “The Cosby Show”, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, “Keenan & Kel” and “All that”.
Warner also played in films, including “Fools Gold” in 2008 with Matthew McConaughey and “Drop Zone” in 1994 with Wesley Snipes. Fans of “The Magic School Bus” could also recognize Warner as the voice of the show of the show, “the producer”.
In addition to acting and directing, Warner was a bass player. In 2015, he won a Grammy for the best traditional R&B performance as a star interpreter for his work on “Jesus Children” by Robert Glasper. He also took his talents to Off-Broadway Plays, with several pieces, including “Cryin ‘Shame”, for which he won the NAACP Theater Award for best support actor.
His most recent work includes the show in three episodes of “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” as a chef Bill Houston this year. He also co-organized the podcast “not all the hood”, which plunges into the different lived experiences of blacks in America.
