Lewis Hamilton says he always loves such races after eliminating his distressed Belgium’s Grand Prix Sprint Week end on a bright note by charging points back to the points in a wet dry race on Sunday.
Hamilton endured the weekend to forget the Spa-Franchorchimps until Sunday’s rain-affected race.
He faced two qualifying out of the first round, which led to him starting near the back of the field for Saturday’s sprint – where he managed in the 15th and Sunday’s main race.
But when Ferrari took his car out of the park firm, after a new power unit fitted, which was expected to live due to wet weather, Hamilton’s weekend was alive from the 18th weekend.
Once the racing action continued after the 80 -minute red flag, Hamilton surpassed five drivers – Lance Walking, Carlos Sons, Franco Colpento, Nico Holkin Berg and Pierre Gasley – in most laps in the race, in the first lap, in the first lap.
This early gambling paid a beautiful profit, as once other drivers then stood up to shake themselves in the lap, Hamilton got six more places and was ranked seventh behind Williams’ Alex Alban.
And although he stayed on the remaining 33 laps, with no way to Williams, Hamilton’s initial charge helped them win the fans’ driver’s day award.
He told Sky Sports F1: “I always love such races when you are challenged and have to make your way in the field.
“That’s how my life started in racing. We didn’t have such a big cart and started on his back, so he was reminiscent.
“The great job of the team. It was disappointing that he had not such a big weekend, definitely a forgetfulness. But at least I still got some points, we collectively outsourced Mercedes.”
By Sunday, Hamilton’s struggle came a weekend. Ferrari brought up a suspension upgrade behind his long wait in his car – and Charles Lucknow was ranked fourth in the sprint and then was the third ahead of the Red Bill’s Max Versestapin in the Grand Prix.
Hamilton, who is still waiting for the first grand pre -podium of his ferry career after the start of 13, said: “I can’t always fix it. On Friday, Saturday, there are many factors, which were once again, some factors, but finally.
“Then, I was a little recovering today. A great thanks to the team, I will try and come back firmly next week.
“I think I know the car much better with all my changes, so I felt a lot of comfort today.”
‘Super Job!’ – Roseburg’s decision on Hamilton’s recovery
Sky Sports F -1’s Nico Rusberg, a former Hamilton team partner and title rivals in Mercedes:
“He made six positions from the 13th to seventh, it’s amazing – by calling himself. Super work!
“Ferrari will be happy Mercedes struggled because if they maintain their shape, it helps a great deal in the championship of the Constructors.
“I think they will usually be quite positive. Yet, they are 20 seconds from McLaren, which is a huge part.”
