Team Principal Andrea Stella has revealed that McLaren does not think that the One -stop strategy, which won the Grand Prix of Hungary, was possible before the race.

Nuris stopped the Oscar Pyastr after a fierce battle to reduce the championship deficit to nine points in the summer break.

The British driver started third, but he came in fourth behind George Russell, and was already seven seconds behind Race Leader Charles Lucknow and Piestry before competing for the first time.

“Our baseline strategy was a two -stop strategy,” Stella explained.

“With Lando, when we expanded, except Lando, we did not think that one stop was possible. But, Lando, Sahara, put it in a very strong fields and lap with the tires used, so we convinced ourselves that a stop game was starting to enter because we were developing with the first stunt.

“We did not enter the race with one or two stops. We thought there would be two stop strategies.”

Noris made the last place to 32, which was half of the race, which was the key to his victory because the tires avoided falling from a mountain and when he confronted the hardships, he was still moving.

“It’s not like I thought my race was over, but it was very thin that I would be able to fight at least, even a perfect two -stop strategy. So, my expectations were not high, but I was banking more on safety car or VSc or to bring me back to the race.

“But I didn’t have any of it. Finally, I think it doesn’t matter. My confidence was not the most, but it was my best opportunity to try to do something.

“It proved to be a bit difficult because he really allowed me to fight until the end of the win. I don’t believe it still felt like a great strategy, but I think the overtaking is how difficult it is, it turned out.”

“So it had a 99 % limit, which was very difficult to walk, but one I had to continue for a long time.”

Brown: close to perfect as much as possible

MacLauren’s chief executive Zak Brown has permanently said that his drivers are free to race and they are happy that the team scored their fourth season after the thrilling war.

He told Sky Sports F1: “You are never perfect in a race, but I think it was as close as you can. The drivers were amazing, the pit stops were amazing, there was a strategy to get up to Lando, the Oscar run brilliantly. I can’t be foolish with this racing team.

“With the first lap of Lando, we were not planning a stop strategy, we did not know what we could do but then it came to the point where we try. They knew it would come to the last five laps and their race was very tight, very clean, very clean and they were both happy boys.”
