The Boston Red Sox are required to make waves on the deadline for trade. They have a few parts to move, but more importantly, they must upgrade their start -up rotation.
To do this, the Red Soxs may have to exchange big league talents. Jeff Passan d’Espn recently suggested the Red Sox could use Jarren Duran as a commercial part And suggested that the Reds of Cincinnati could be a potential landing point for the All-Star.

“For the variety of options that Reds have offensively, they find themselves at a light impact, which is why transforming their excess of pitching into a high-end voltiseur is a reasonable objective. Is it realistic, but not particularly,” wrote Passan. “They are not inclined to exchange the Greene hunter as part of a friendly contract unless it is for a star, and as well as Duran was and as talented as Steven Kwan, neither of the two passes to this threshold.
“Andrew Abbott, on the other hand, sets up the kind of figures that Boston is looking for from a starter, but with a quick bullet at 92 MPH, he does not shout the guy from the front of the rotation.”
If Boston hunts launchers, the Reds are the team to talk to. While Hunter Greene and Chase Burns are almost certainly untouchable, the Red Sox could target Andrew Abbott, Rhett Lowder, Chase Petty, Nick Lodolo or Nick Martinez to find the starting launcher they want.
The addition of Duran would be a huge decision for the future of Cincinnati. Given the depth and talent that the Reds have in terms of starting pitching, it would not be surprising to see them sell high on Abbott or Lodolo if it will win a controllable star like Duran.
