The Foreign Office has confirmed that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and US State Secretary Marco Rubio will hold talks in Washington on Friday. According to the spokesperson, bilateral relations, regional and international issues as well as Pak -India will be on the agenda.
Foreign Secretary Shafakat Ali Khan told reporters in a weekly briefing yesterday that I can confirm that the meeting is scheduled tomorrow and all issues involved in the bilateral agenda on important regional and global issues will be discussed, as well as the Middle East and Iran’s status.
The Pak -India issue will also be discussed. We are grateful to the United States in terms of stress and ceasefire. The meeting between Dar and Rubio is part of a new attempt to restore organized dialogues between Pakistan and the United States.
The Biden administration had completely ignored Pakistan and there was little or no contact at the level of foreign ministers. The inauguration of President Donald Trump’s government has changed positive changes in bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.
Pakistan’s cooperation in the arrest of a prominent mastermind of bombing in Kabul in August 2021 improved Pakistan’s relations. In his first speech, President Trump praised Pakistan’s opposition efforts.
