Yasmin Tahir, a former radio Pakistan voice, died in the past. His long commitment to Radio Pakistan was a press and social media. Old memories related to radio started coming into our minds one by one. There was no solid road and electricity in our remote village Rahm Yaar Khan. In our childhood and childhood, our only support for contact and relationship with the outside world was radio.
Later, we heard a lot in the morning program “Seven Colors” at Radio Pakistan Lahore hosting Yasmin Tahir. The characteristic of Yasmin Tahir was his unique and melodious voice, unique and humble vowels, a very good choice of words and in conversation. A “seven colors” are mentioned, a variety of programs on Radio Pakistan were a source of education and training for education and training with many such people.
In the late 60s and early 70s, Radio Pakistan performed Sohni Dharti and Democratic Voice programs in the evening. In particular, the voice program of democracy was an integral part of rural life evening. In Punjabi language, various roles like Nizam Deen, Chaudhary Sahib, Malik Sahib and uncle Khairo cover everyday life and rural problems with great style and beauty.
In this rural life, we looked familiar like the people of our house. We are well remembered that in the early 70s, many personalities were invited to college work at Khwaja Farid Government College Rahim Yar Khan (now university). One of these personality Chaudhary Sahib of the Democratic Voice Program, whose real name was Abdul Latif Passenger, is in the mind till date. The auditorium was filled with agony. Mike Chaudhary and his voice and the magic of the entire hall!
After Radio Pakistan, Radio Multan began, which increased the traditions of Radio Pakistan to a great extent. Seraiki language, culture, music, art and poetry beautifully presented that Seraiki language and the entire region got language.
It was the time of 70s when the voice of radio Pakistan echoed in every house. When we were living in cities in relation to education, this relationship was established with Pakistan Television. The first relationship was only hearing, but this new hearing saucer introduced a new world. We remember that about the television of 1974, Mohammad Ali Boxer’s live fight Shahi Road Rahm Yaar Khan, the generosity of the owner of an electronics showroom was seen on the small screen of black and white TV. As we fall, we saw this battle as well and in view of this, Tadir remained dedicated to the new hearing experience.
There was a time when he heard the names of radio and PTV, there was a wave of pride in the hearts, but today both these companies are the story of their days of memory and recent collapse. Both institutions fell into the hands of changing, new requirements and continuous political intervention in front of the private sector, negligence of the state and mismanagement.
When Radio Pakistan was established in 1947, it had only three radio stations, but within a few years it became a powerful source of voices across the country.
Its artists, annuals and programs were the same as exemplary even today. From classical music to news, from educational programs to entertainment broadcasting, most of the programs from Radio Pakistan were of excellent standards. Then the era of PTV came. It was the first TV network in South Asia when Pakistan Television Corporation started its broadcast in 1964.
His plays, educational programs, children’s shows and news broadcasting started a new era. A huge galaxy, creators and artists of the best management team have brought PTV to heights. Sadly, there is a familiar disaster in both these institutions, there is no refusal to hollow out successful institutions.
With continuous political intervention and mismanagement, these institutions were forced to become a political puppet and thus their creative and technical standards began to fall. Every new government has established its people, made its own policies and tried to make these institutions a tool for its political goals. This recommendation was replaced by merit, political loyalty was given priority rather than capacity. As a result, these institutions lost their soul.
PTV had plays like “God Town”, “Lonely”, “Uncle aka”, “Waris”, “Walls”, which were seen not only in Pakistan but also abroad. Now, PTV has almost gone away from its old production, which is usually non -standard and recruitment. Today, the standard on PTV remains only in memory, while in the world, such as BBC, Al Jazeera, DW, despite the blessings of the government, the government, are still at the heights through their sovereignty and merit.
In today’s era, when private TV channels are completed and digital media has made it in every household, the importance of radio Pakistan and PTV has reduced slightly, but these institutions have become more important to promote national solidarity and cultural values where the interest of professionalism is zero.
These institutions need to be protected from political intervention. Eligible professionals should be deployed on merit. Enjoy modern technology and give creative freedom to your programs. Both companies need financial restructuring to wash the financial burden of the past to give these companies a new beginning.
Today, in the era of YouTube, Instagram and Tuck Talk, there is importance of radio and television organizations which are knowledgeable of social and cultural values rather than race for professionalism … but for this innocent desire, it is forced to step in the right direction … We have never been able to do so.
