Red Bull Racing The main advisor Helmut Marko opened its doors to the former director of the team Christian HornerHe ousted after the British Grand Prix, revealing who made the decision and the probable reason behind the major announcement.
Red Bull separated from Horner after a 20 -year partnership that celebrated eight pilot championships and six team titles. The sudden nature of its release has raised questions about the reason for Horner’s departure. Horner was replaced by the former director of the Bulls of Race Bulls Laurent Mekies.
The team did not reveal the reason for his oust, but now Marko opened, revealing that the director general of Red Bull Gmbh, Oliver Mintzlaff, took the call to separate from Horner. Addressing Sky Deutschland, the 82 -year -old advisor said:
“The decision was made by Oliver Mintzlaff. We informed Christian Horner of this Tuesday in London after the Silverstone race, at the same time, officially thanking him these 20 years and for these eight world championship titles.”

Marko added that performance was one of the concerns that led to the decision. He said:
“It was the result of various factors, but above all, the performance was not as good as it could have been.
“Fortunately, we were able to bring Laurent Mekies into the family. His responsibilities will be considerably reduced, the accent being put on the race.”
Newsweek sports Max Verstappen’s comments also reported the race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutch driver said he was informed of the decision the day before the announcement by Red Bull and suggested that reason would be made public. He said:
“I have a good relationship with them, you know, so I think it is completely normal that they inform some people from the team before it knows. I think it’s a standard practice.
“I gave them my opinion. And I keep it for me. And if they want to say more, they will do it. And you will hear about it.”
The quadruple world champion added that Horner’s release does not influence his future with Red Bull. He said:
“I do not think that it matters at all for my decision in the future. And yet, the only thing that matters is that we are working on the car and do it as fast as we can do, really. And as I have said, the last years and a half have not been what we want to be. Now, we are trying to be more competitive this year a bit, but that is sure with the new regulations.”
He added:
“Sitting here, you look at these 20 years of Red Bull, I think we have had a lot of good years, excellent results. There are also years when it is not going so well. And I think the last and a half has disappeared as we would have loved it.
“The management decided that they wanted to direct the ship in a different direction probably. Everyone must of course accept this and wait impatiently. And I am impatient. But at the same time, we appreciate, of course, these 20 years and especially on my side the 10, 11 years that I was part of Red Bull.
“These things will always be memories. And the relationship between me and Christian, for example, who does not change. Of course, he is not here now for a race weekend. But it’s always like a second family for me.”
