The head of the United Nations interaction process has asked representatives of 180 countries collected in Geneva to find a solution to a plastic global crisis and sign a historic agreement to eliminate this dangerous waste to humanity.
“We are facing a global crisis,” Ecuadorian diplomatic Louis Vyas Waldeviso said at the beginning of the 10 -day process.
‘Plastic pollution is damaging our ecosystem, polluting oceans and rivers, threatens to biological diversity, affects human health and has unfair effects on the most weaker sections. This is a quick problem, evidence is clear and responsibility is on us. ,

The three -year conversation in the South Korean city of Bosain was stopped last December when the agreement was stopped by the oil producing countries.
Central leaders of the new dialogue say that they do not expect an easy action this time, but they hope that the deal is still possible.
“Diplomatic efforts have been made since Bosain,” the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Anderson told AFP. Dialogues between different regions and interest groups have created a new movement. Most of the countries I have talked to have said that they are coming on a contract. ,

“It won’t be easy, it will not be a simple process, but is there a way of a contract,” Anderson said.
Access to micro -plastic to the human body

Plastic pollution has spread so much that micro -plastic has been found in the world’s highest peaks, the deepest marine pits and almost every part of the human body.
In 2022, countries around the world decided that they would find a way to deal with the crisis by the end of 2024, but the final conversation on the legal agreement against plastic pollution (especially in the oceans) failed for Bosan.
Some countries called for restricting production and ending toxic chemicals, while most oil producing countries only called for focusing on waste management.
“Our way and stance may be different, but the destination is one.” We are all here for this general purpose: a world where there is no plastic pollution. ,

More than 600 non -government organizations are also in Geneva. These organizations have access to interaction on such important points, such as banning specific chemicals and setting a limit on plastic production.
Graham Forbes, head of the Green Peace delegation, told AFP: “If we want to resolve plastic pollution crisis, we must first stop unprecedented plastic production.” We want a contract that cuts plastic production, eliminates toxic chemicals, and provides financial resources that helps us move a plastic and fossil fuel -blessings. ,
He warned that the organic fuel industry is with full force here. We cannot allow some countries to decide the future of humanity. ,

More than 40 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year, half of which are for items used once.
Only 15 % of plastic waste is collected, and only nine percent are actually recycled.
About 46 % of waste is thrown into hemorrhoids, 17 % are burnt, while 22 % are poorly handled and scattered around.
According to a report published in the British Medical Journal The Lancet, plastic pollution is a ‘serious, growing and less -known threats’ for health, causing the world to cause at least $ 15 trillion economic losses each year.
This new research described the effects of plastic with air pollution and lead, and said that it was possible through law and policy making.
Symbolic sculpture: ‘Thinker’s burden’
Outside the United Nations, a copy of the French sculptor of August Roden, a well -known statue of ‘The Thancar’, is being pressed into a growing pile of plastic, which highlights the seriousness of the crisis.
It was created by Canadian artist and social activist Benjamin Van Wong Wong, known as Art Para (The Thachers Burden).
He said: ‘If we want health protection, then we have to think seriously about those toxic chemicals that are joining our environment.’
However, American Chemistry Council spokesman Matthew Castner said, “Plastic industry and its products are very important for public health, especially for medical devices, surgical masks, children’s safety seats, helmets and clean water supply pipes.”
