From Hunja to Kashmir: 1000 year old brochures people

Raja Ashraf Ali Khan, a senior member of the Rano family, one of the oldest ruling branches in Pakistan -Kashmir, says, “Our culture, customs, traditions, marriage and death rituals are quite different.”

“Many families ruled, but the Rano family ruled for the longest time and sacrificed the most during the Dogra War.

“During the war, members of the Rano family, such as Mubarak Shah, were put in jail, while others, like Raja Azhar Khan, fled to China and later returned with soldiers. King Ashraf Ali Khan says, ‘There is no similarity in our language, even sister or protoni language. It is a completely separate language, called the language of isolation.

In Kashmir, Rano, Barati and Hanjia families represent three local branches. Where Rano is known for his long rule, the malpractice represents Raja Azhar Khan and Hanjia represents Raja Mehboob Ali Khan. ,

These families have revived a thousand -year -old heritage, which differs from all communities around language, ceremonies and rituals.

King Ashraf says: ‘Sometimes the government has to take big steps to save culture. Only a few speakers are left and must be saved now. ,

Thanks to social media, awareness about the Broso community is increasing. However, modern education and lifestyle is pulling the younger generation towards English, Urdu and Kashmir, which is causing concern for the existence of their mother tongue.

“When we speak Browsky, we feel proud. Whether it is during Maharam or wedding ceremony. We have asked the government to include a chapter about our one thousand year old community in school books.”
