To take his first wicket in eight years, he took only Liam Dawson to his test for seven balls, at which time he thought he would not think.
The 35 -year -old left -wing spinner confessed that he thought his hopes were lost in the memory of England, before Shib Bashir’s Test Summer suffered a finger injury in the third Test win at the Lord’s.
Dawson claimed 1-45 figures out of 15 overs, in which Yashasvi Jeswal caught his first Test wicket in 2,929 days after the sacked South African legend Hashim Amla in Trent Bridge in July 2017.
Dawson said, “I have told some people that the age I am, I thought that the test cricket had gone.” “It is really good to join it, and I have to try to try every day.
“I think I’m a better bowler than a few years ago. I was nervous. I didn’t play for many years. The biggest thing for me was that I understood what to expect, while before that, I didn’t.
“Hopefully, I will get something else. It’s a wicket, I have done nothing special.
“You treat the nerves a little better that you get. Today it has a good fun, and we’ve got another big day tomorrow.”
Hampshire’s all -rounder is familiar with many players in the current England setup and said that it is easy to ease the environment.
Dawson added, “I know a lot of boys, so it was okay to come, the business of test matches is very different from domestic cricket.”
“This is a very comfortable environment. I was told that I am just and what I have done in Red Ball Cricket. I am just trying to work for the team.”
Dawson was also in control of the fields he wanted to set up against Indian players and revealed that he had spoken to England’s Captain Ben Stokes during his training about England spin bowling coach, Jeatin Patel.
“I talked to her for a few days with her training, and she said, try and I am clever in how I use them.
“I was trying to take the last three or four years in domestic cricket and bring it into it.
“You always need someone [a coach] To talk, but I’m at the age where I’m not going to change my game extensively, I have to keep it very easy.
“But it’s good to chat with Jets (Jetton Patel) and throw some ideas around, but from a technical point of view, it may not be too much to change in his age.”
Ethereon: Dawson deserves England’s call -up
Sky Sports Cricket Michael Ethererton believes that Dawson deserves the “deserving” of England’s call up, with which he is a permanent Hampshire actor. So far this season, with 21 wickets in the county championship, he also provides more batting firepower below the order with the strike rate 42.
“He adds some depth of batting and has a lot of wisdom and knowledge from his left -hand spin,” said Ethererton.
“Sometimes the England team criticized that it is difficult to get out of the team.
“You don’t want to feel where outside players think they can’t enter, and the inside players feel like they are not going to fall.
“Need a balance. You need some level protection there, and it’s a fine balance to get it.”
