Islamabad, (Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News – August 4, 2025) Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan, Henny De Veeras has wrapped his diplomatic term in service to the country and strengthened bilateral relations between Pakistan and Netherlands.
In his farewell message, he reflected on his tenure, highlighting the vibrant diversity of Pakistan, his flexibility of his time, his time in Pakistan, “an unforgettable journey marked by cooperation, mutual respect and hope”.
A strong diplomatic chapter ends
Ambassador Henny Dey Viris assumed his position in August 2020, a time marked by the global challenges of the Kovid -19 epidemic. Despite those testing conditions, she managed to promote greater bilateral engagement, especially in the areas of climate flexibility, women empowerment, trade, education, water management and cultural diplomacy.
While reflecting his journey, he said, “Serving as an ambassador to the Netherlands in Pakistan has been a rich experience both professional and individual. Friendship, and appreciation for the people of this beautiful country.”
Active steps to support Pakistan in their fight, under the leadership of their tenure, Dutch Embassy, Ambassador D. Vrins, active steps under environmental fall and water insulation.
The Netherlands, known globally for their expertise in water management, worked with Pakistan to share innovative solutions for water conservation, efficient irrigation and flood management. Ambassador D. Vrins visited flood affected areas in Sindh and Balochistan after 2022 floods, offering solidarity and support for prolonged climate flexibility.

Trade, agriculture and economic relations
Under his watch, bilateral trade between the two countries saw a positive growth. Dutch companies expanded operations in Pakistan in areas such as agriculture, dairy, logistics and renewable energy.
Ambassador D. Vrins emphasized the importance of trade-to-business linkage, fair trades and innovation. She played an important role in organizing traditional missions and creating platforms to cooperate for Dutch and Pakistani entrepreneurs.
In 2022, he launched a “Dutch-Pak Agricultural Network” to facilitate the convenience between Dutch Agricultural Experts and Pakistani Counterathas with focus on food security, permanent F farming and modern technology.
Gender equality and human rights
A major priority during their mission was the empowerment of women and girls in Pakistan. Ambassador D Vrins worked closely with civil society organizations, women entrepreneurs and youth groups to advocate for inclusion, equality and education.
She attached several female-level events, skill development sessions, and spoke openly about the need for the safety of human rights and the importance of women leadership.
The Dutch Embassy supported women’s vocational training, gender-based violence awareness and many projects focusing on digital literacy.

Cultural diplomacy and people-seal connections
He was identified by Ambassador D Vis’s tenure for cultural communities of Pakistan’s diversity. She often visited heritage sites, universities and local festivals, to promote mutual understanding through cultural diplomacy.
He immersed Harsolf in the rich traditions of Pakistan, by exploding on the streets of Lahore and Multan temples to experience the hill landscape of Hanta and the artistic energy of Karachi.
He actively promoted cultural exchange between Dutch and Pakistan’s artists, musicians and scholars. The embassy hosted exhibitions, film screening and courses of Dutch languages, which attracted participation from Action the Count.

In his last message, the ambassador expressed special tests for Pakistani authorities, fruit diplomats, magos, NGOs and everyday citizens, who contributed to their mission.
He described the Pakistani people as “hot, hospitality and full of promises”. He expected his understanding, flexibility in adversity, and better tomorrow. Ambassador D Vrins also appreciated the role of Pakistan’s youth, given that they are “Changemakers who would shape the future of the country.”
Sharing a few mild moments, he recalled his first taste of Pakistani cuisine, tried Biryani and Chapali Kebabs, visited local markets, riding in a rickshaw, and learning a fee in Urdu.
In his words: “I will always remember Hardik ‘Khash Amdeed’, who congratulated me where I went. Pakistan will always be close to my heart.”
Ambassador Henny Dey Vris Department marks the end of a fruitful era in the Dutch-Pakistani diplomacy. His successor is expected to construct a strong foundation laid in the past.
