Islamabad:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has said that there have been reports that some unknown people are harassing the public by sending fake emails and WhatsApp messages in the name of Director General (DG) FIA.

According to an FIA spokesperson, fake messages are being pan by using the name and position of DGFIA, and fraudsters register a fake seal of “top secrets” on these messages so that their fraud is authentic.

The spokesperson said that these elements are trying to show themselves as government officials using fake and misleading names, trying to blackmail citizens by accusing citizens of “cybercrime” in such messages.

He said that the FIA does not send any person to such a message through WhatsApp or email.

The spokesman said that the public is requested to file a suspicious message or contact with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, which is authorized to investigate cyber crime.

Citizens said that they should beware of fake messages and not share their personal and financial information and contact the FIA Helpline 1991 for more information.
