Paris: French Cultural Minister Rashid Datti will be prosecuted for allegations of corruption and powers, French judicial sources have confirmed AFP.
Rashida Datti, who was a member of the European Parliament, is suspected of illegally advocating for the Renault-Nissan car group and received a million euro (about 1 million US dollars) as a lawyer between 2010 and 2012, but there is no clear record of their work.
The court has included former Renault-Nisan president Carlos Ghoshan in the trial in the trial. Ghosan is currently located in Lebanon and has denied the allegations.
Datti has called the allegations a political attack. He said: “I condemn the magistrates who refuse to do their work according to the code.”
He is also a candidate for the Mayor of Paris, and is currently the mayor of the seventh district, where most of the French ministries, parliament and foreign embassies are located.
According to a close aide of French President Emmanuel Macron, the Datti will remain in the office as “there is no punishment to mention the court.”
