Thailand set up martial law in eight districts in view of the ongoing military clashes with Cambodia.
According to the World News Agency, the recent border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia have taken a dangerous turn.
The districts where Thailand has imposed martial law included 7 districts of 7 provinces and one district of Tarahat province.
The Thai Army Border Defense Command chief General Apache Surset told the media that the purpose of martial law is to ensure security before any possible major conflict and protect citizens.
The Prime Minister of Thailand, Famatham Mashaiya, expressed concern in a statement, saying that the border conflict with the Cambodian forces is constantly increasing and a threat is that these slight clashes can turn into a full war.
According to foreign media, at least 16 people have been killed and dozens have been injured in stress starting tomorrow. The severe nervousness has spread to the affected areas.
Due to border tension, approximately one million people have moved to safe places from the affected areas of Thailand so far.
On the other hand, in Cambodia, more than 10,000 people have been vacated from border areas to safe places.
It should be remembered that there have been border disputes and clashes between the two countries in the past, but recent incidents have once again raised questions about law and order in the region.
The international community has called for the parties to prevent stress, showing patience.
