I like a closed-concept house.
For me, a closed-concept house means that (in most cases) there is not a straight view from a main living location to the next. The rooms are separated by either a wall, a door, or a radical. While in our house, while there is a scene from entryway to a dining room, most of our main living areas are different from others.
I am often asked about the downside of living without direct vision lines that come up with homes built in the last twenty years. In my experience, there are too many reasons to love to live in a closed-concept house, as there are to dislike it. In fact, when I am in the kitchen cooking dinner, only once I will consider a little more open-concept layout. When we are hosting, I sometimes get a fomo and don’t want to miss anything with my guests. To compete this, I invite people to chat with me while cooking.
In today’s post, I am sharing my favorite things about my shutdown house.

4 Reasons I love our shutdown home
1. The mess is more easily contained.
A girlfriend recently reminded me that for the first time I had finished her for dinner. I started the dogs in the back door, covered in the mud, and a mess quickly. I closed the doors between the kitchen and the rest of the house to close the dirt, cleaned everything, and then came back to the party very quickly. This was something that I had got used to, I did not think about it twice! It was not until he brought it that I realized how useful the layout is for the lifestyle of our family.
When we have the end of people, it is also easy to clean the final-minute and maintain a common understanding of the order because things do not spread from room to room.
2. It is easy to have time alone.
Now that children are getting a little older, we can allow them to play more often, and who and I can have time alone in different places. This is convenient by dividing the rooms, and I can get in a busy life alone.
It should be noted that we live in a larger house than before. This means that there is naturally more space for spending different time. However, we use about half of the house when it is just our immediate family, so the closed-concept floor plan definitely still helps to provide some separation.
3. I can design each room individually.
When you are designed within an open-concept floor plan, you first and first create a design around a harmonious plan. It feels a little skill to find out how to do. With our closed-concept spaces, it is felt that each room may have its own personality.
When I will consider the overall color palette of the house when I am designing any room, I don’t think I need to be very closely tied for it. This created the process of experimenting with fun rooms especially in our main living areas. You can see the individual personality of various places in rooms such as the Blue Library/Office and Green Family Room.
4. This encourages our family to try various activities.
I know from the experience that when you have a big great room with TV, it is easy to set in your routine. When it comes to downtime, it often includes TV. In this house, with different places without TV, we are ready to do different activities. When I am working in the office, the children will study, we will play games in the living room, and we will craft on the kitchen island.
