A spokesman for the motorway police said that the driver of the bus ran away from the spot after the accident, but a case is being registered against him.
According to him, an FIR is usually registered against the driver in such accidents as it is likely that he failed to be careful.
In response to a question about the accident, the spokesperson said that public service vehicle management was a regular process to check the fitness of public service vehicles climbing on a motorway called the information system. Under this system, each vehicle is doing a digital and physical inspection on the toll plaza before climbing on the motorway.
He said that tires, brakes, body and fitness certificates of each vehicle are examined.
If a vehicle is not fit for a trip, no driver’s license or vehicle is closed, it is not allowed to climb the motorway.
According to the spokesperson, preliminary investigation suspects that a piece of iron from another vehicle or truck fell into the bus tire, causing the tire exploded and the bus overturned. However, there is a thorough investigation into the accident.
