Islamabad, (Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News – 24th July 2025) The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will offer electric tram buses in Islamabad, ensuring the access to the upgraded transport solutions to the citizens.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by CDA President and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhwa on Thursday.

There was a detailed discussion about introducing a state-ART transport system for the citizens of the federal capital.

Chairman CDA said that providing modern and efficient transport facilities is the top priority of the CDA.

Dipping the briefing, it was reported that a feasibility report covering financial, operational and professional models is prepared.

The electric bus project has already increased the daily ridership of 90,000 passengers, as these buses are environment-fate, cost-effective and time restricted, attracting trainees from citizens.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed the authorities to finalize the feasibility report, especially focused on financial stability.

He insisted on developing a self-sufficient financial model and discovering public-private partnership.

The clear deadline and operational goals for the tram project were also estimated.

Regarding electric feeder buses, the Chairman CDA directed the route selection based on the passenger data, giving priority to the high-proclaimed areas.

He also ordered the establishment of a modern digital screen on terminals displaying advertisements, schedules and security guidelines.

To increase revenue, smart ticketing systems and in-bus advertisements will be introduced. Additionally, electric buses will also be allocated for CDA employees.

The meeting was informed that 140 bus stops are being upgraded, which can be interrupted more than 200 new stops, including digital boards for non-pilipare revenue production.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that this initiative would be a modern, and environment-Friday transport system.

They believe that these projects would convert Islamabad into a cleaner, smart and more attractive capital, citizens played their role in supporting this vision.

The meeting was attended by the guidelines and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Membar Planning Dr. Khalid Hafiz, the relevant DGS, NRTC representative and other senior officials were attached.
