Officials banned 25 books in Indian Kashmir, which they say that the controversial regions are promoting ‘false statements’ and ‘separatism’.

Media sanctions have been tightened in Indian -Kashmir in recent years. Under this ban, those who have such books or who have their own are in danger of jail.

Authors whose books are banned include a good prize -winning novelist and social activist Arvindati Rai, constitutional affairs expert AG Noorani and leading experts Samanantra Bose, Christopher Sniden and Victoria Shffleel.

The latest order was issued by the Indian Home Department of Kashmir on Tuesday, which is directly under the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. He is the highest administrator of Delhi in Kashmir.

Manoj Sinha has important powers in the region as a representative of a central government, while elected officials are almost running a government -free government, which came to power last year when elections were held for the first time since ending the controversial area of the controversial region in 2019.

In the latest order, these 25 books were declared ‘seized’ under India’s new Criminal Law 2023, which practically prohibited the prevalence, ownership and access to the Himalayan region.

Under various provisions of this law, crimes related to seized books can be sentenced to three years, seven years, even life imprisonment. However, no one has been sent to jail under his law.

The Home Department said in its notice that “25 identified books have been declared a threat to separatism and India’s sovereignty and integrity”.

The notice states that such books play an important role in the youth misleading, justifying terrorism and inciting violence against the Indian state. ,

The notice stated that there was ‘investigation and certified information’ after the operation, indicating ‘false statements and systematic spread of separatist literature’, which is often presented as a historical or political comment. ,

India is taking steps to suppress disagreement in Kashmir. Since 2019, the authorities have declared disagreement as an unfortunate crime and have not shown any tolerance for any statement that questioned India’s sovereignty on Kashmir.

In February, the police raided book shops and seized hundreds of books associated with a major Islamic organization in the area.

In 2011, the police registered a case against Kashmir Education Officers, when the word ‘tyrannical’ was explained in the first book with a sketch that was similar to the police officer.

A year ago, a police arrested a college lecturer for accusing his students in the English examination, who criticized the action against the Indian rule in the region.

In some cases, the accused was released after police investigation, but most of them are still pending in India’s notorious slow judicial system.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the lead leader of the resistance movement in Kashmir, condemned the ban on books.

In his statement, he said that banning the books of famous intellectuals and reliable historians can neither end historical facts nor end the memories of the victory of Kashmiri people. ,

He asked the officials that on one hand, a book fair is being organized to show the affiliation of literature, while some books are being banned on the other hand.

“Such oppressive measures reflect the uncertainty and limited thinking of the people behind them, as well as the contradictory contradictory of the book celebration.”

The ban on books in India may seem rare, but the hold on the media has become stronger.

Books are not common in India, but in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, officials have raised their efforts to raid free media houses, send journalists to jail and re -write history in school and university textbooks to promote their ruling party by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
