Anti -Drag operations in 263 universities seize more than 1400 kg of drugs: Internal Ministry

In the lower house of Pakistan, the National Assembly said on Friday that anti -drug campaigns were going on in educational institutions and more than 1,400 kg of drugs were recovered in recent works.

The government has expressed concern over the alleged drug use of drugs in educational institutions of the country and is taking action to stop it.

In a written response about a question held on Friday at the National Assembly, the federal Home Minister and Anti -Durg Mohsin Nakomi said that recently, on the instructions of the Prime Minister’s Office and General Headquarters (GAQ), the Anti -Enarkotics Force (ANF) targeted educational institutions by targeting educational institutions.

‘ANF conducted 269 operations in around 263 universities across Pakistan and seized 1,427.356 kg drugs, while 426 people were involved in drug smuggling.’

In a written reply, the Home Minister admitted that dependence and fresh information about the supply and use of drugs in universities and colleges is limited. He said that no authentic data was available in the country.

“The final drug survey in the country took place 12 years ago.”

The written reply states that the educational institutions were not included in the drug survey 12 years ago. “The Prime Minister has directed a national survey on misuse of drugs and the survey is conducting a Pakistan Institute of Statistics, which is expected to be completed by 2026.”

He said that the survey questionnaire is reviewing the tendency of drug abuse within educational institutions and the survey will provide extensive and authentic medicine information in educational institutions that will help the country to form the right strategy.

Under the National Mission to protect the new generation from drugs, the government decided to conduct a national drug survey last year, which is underway and the survey will collect data from drug users across the country.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in a statement, “The increasing number of crimes related to drugs in our society is worrisome and the government is committed to his chapter.”

“Drugs are a threat to the existence of our society,” he said. It is through joint efforts that we may be able to prevent the distribution of drugs and prohibited objects. ,
